What does "Gapping the sparkplug" mean? Are the Autolites the best to stick with, and do better cables really help?

I want to replace the spark plugs and wires, since I figure the ones in my car are probably 10 years old or so at least. And when the car runs, if you rev the engine, a wet spot appears just below the exhaust pipes, and I figure spark plugs would help that. Then again, I love simple solutions...

Gaping the plugs is seting the electrode gap to a certen ammount, measured in thousands, the correct gap (36 thou? something like that) can be found in a chiltons manual as well as needing to change plugs every year, not 10! New wires should help performance a little too. I stick with autolite b/c they make a special shorty plug for my shorty headers. And the water coming out of the tail pipe is normal, a little water is a sign of good combustion if im not misteaken, and most cars do drip a little. Un less its fuel, then your AF ratio is a little off. (rich)
