single wire alternator

is the instalation as easy as running a wire from the alt. to the solenoid?

i should wire it to the same prong ans the battery wire right?

1: No there has to be a voltage regulator.

I would do a 3g upgrade. There is a very good wright up in the stick at the top of the page.

2: yes alt. wire to to the same side of the senoid as the battery cable.

dont forget to upgrade to 4g cable

One wire is just that one wire! The voltage regulator is built in. The pulley will have to be swapped from V belt to six groove pulley. The 3g is a nice unit but, it is not the only game in town. I have a 120 amp one wire and love it. The only down side is "the one wire alternator is a GM setup / design."

Yea your right I was thinking about the old ford style like on the 82 mustangs.

You can get a 3g any where from 80, 130, and 200 amps.

I have a 130 on my car now.

If you have the option of connecting the an excite wire to your new alt, I recommend it. The true one-wire alts are self-exciting, which can be kind of a pain IMHO.
