Skipping real bad

Im new at this but i have a 98 GT with 80,000 miles and its skipping real bad,i've put new plugs in,, couldanyone tell me where to even start to look,also i tried to change the fuel filter and man thats a joke i can not get mine off i bought the haynes book and went by it and still wont come off any help on that wouldd be great also thanks

did you get the special fuel filter disconnect tools? It is going to be hard I had to twist a little and pull at the same time.

well first off what do you mean by skipping & if you are trying to change the fuel filter, you do need the disconnect tool. just go to auto zone or somewhere & they should have one. with that many miles, you prolly should do a complete tune up, plugs, wires, the whole thing

Yeah i was about to say replace the wires too. Pull the wires off one at a time to see if you can isolate your trouble area then check to see if you have spark from that particular wire. Replace the wires if you find that to be the problem.
