I had a similar thread recently, but it's sort of a different question. Has anyone experienced with their mustang inconsistency in the car's power from day to day? I have some days where driving the car is a seat of the pants experience while other days it just doesn't seem to have any real 'umph' behind it. To me, this just doesn't seem right. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I had a Toyota Paseo (Yeah, I hear you all laughing at me but I swapped the stock engine out so it wasnt *that* slow..) that did that. Some days it felt responsive and quick and some days it just felt sloppy and sluggish.

Days like today (in NYC) the car would probably feel slow. While days that are colder the car runs like an animal. Is this what you're talking about?

yea i have that same feeling, the more i drive it the more i feel the slow sluggish feeling. When i let it sit for a while it doesnt do that its alwasy fast.

Tell me more about this TFI chip though, I never heard of it, so i dont think its been replaced in my car and i have the stock distributor with like 125k on it! Also, if i bought one of those MSD Billet ones would that omit the whole chip thing?

Stick with the stock Ford Distributors, I hear they are the best and least problematic. I put the ignition module that comes with the Screamin' Demon coil (forgot what they call it). I just replaced these a couple of months ago and they didn't change the inconsistency with the power. Also, the engine is pretty much brand new and have a complete tune up when it was in the shop. Maybe it is weather related, but the car is more slow than fast.

yeah, when the air is colder, you can shove more air in the motor, thus more fuel ultimately resulting in more power. It could be a problem, but may just be the weather. Have you pulled codes?

Codes? I'm pretty sure my car is one big code. But who knows. Maybe I'll check this weekend.

when my car is 'cold', no matter if it is hot or cold out, it runs like a champ.... when my car gets warmer it starts to slow down. I know what you are describing and yeah i've noticed it. When you get a full tank of gas it will be slower than when it is empty, when there is people in it, it is slower. Weight takes away alot from me when I have a full tank or people in it. And the cooler air will make it seem faster. I might change my TFI if it does what you say it does when it goes bad.... ohh well....good luck
