i had a quick question,.... when i rev up my car the rpms come down slower than id like. now my friend has a carbed 350 and the rpms drop with a snap. i know carbed cars are dif than fuelies and my iac is practically brand new so i know its not getting caught up or anything. anybody have any ideas or is that normal... almost makes me want to buy a lightened flywheel

thanks,

Drew

Are you rolling or standing still?

EDIT: When you are slowing down for a stop, the VSS sensor located on the speedo cable adapter on the trans tells the computer to slowly decrease the engine speed to keep the engine from stalling.

Standing still - WD40 all the throttle linkage real good.

I dont know if its the same thing you're talking about, but when I shift, the RPMs dont drop right away. Say I shift at 3k rpm at a moderate speed, by the time its in gear and i let off the clutch, the rpm has JUST started to drop. Theres a delay... is that normal, or a tune issue?

Could there be a diff betweent he aod and t5 ecu? My converted t5 car running the stock aod computer drops fast between shifts, if i shift too slowly the rpms drop too much. On the other hand, when i rev the engine, it drops to 1000, pauses, and then drops to idle. I'm thinking its a vac leak or sumthing, but a the same time, I also wonder if its a function of the aod puter?

no im pretty sure the idle hang is normal, some people say to try and clean your iac but others say you have to deal with it.

Mine does the same thing. RPMs drop real slow whether I'm revving the engine or I've pushed in the clutch and am coasting to a stop. It also "hangs" at 1000 for about a half second or so then idles down to about 650. This seems normal on all the Mustangs I've driven. I've put it on a computer at Ford when my MAF was out, and it didn't pull any other error codes. I'm not worried about it. My car runs like a bat out of hell considering I haven't done a lot to it.
