slow stang!

my mustang is slow...99gt vert. Turns out my alternator wasnt charging enuf...had to replace that. And airfilter needed to be replaced....But still it feels lazy. What else can make this car so lazy... I cant keep up with nething on the road.

you cant keep up with nothing on the road? you should be able to keep up with everything except cobras, ls1's, vettes, sti's, and evos. Everything else that should smoke you should be way out of mustang price range. is your car misfiring or something? did you accidently buy a v6? jk

u should save some money, and put a KB 9 psi on it. u would own lots of car out there including stock 03 Cobra.

i know i should be smokin just about everything but i can barely keep up with the rice burners. I have surging thru all my gears not sure why. Like i said i just did plugs and alternator and air filter...cleaned my iac. Clutch isnt slipping.. . Im getting about 200miles to a tank of gas. What is my problem...I wanna do gears but i dont wanna pile on mods until my car is running how it should. I got smoked by a prelude, civic and s2000. It wasn't my driving, because my car wasnt pushing....i was driving really lazy...it felt real fat and heavy.

Next obvious check would be fuel filter. Also you can have it check on a WDS<ford scan computer> to see if your fuel trim and spark trim is within spec.

replace the fuel pump would be my next guess then ... stock ones suck , get a focus pump in it .......

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 - 15 mins, then reconnect.. These emession friendly computers can do funny things sometimes.

Check for codes. Mine was giving me a check engine light, and it was running REAL slow. I had it checked out by FORD, it was a bad MAF, they replaced it, and it made a WORLD of difference. Stupid things like that can make a big difference.

i will reset the comp...and see what happens . My service engine soon light started flashing today too and then stopped...not really sure what that means...

if the light came on , take it to advance or autozone and get the codes pulled before you unhook the battery ... post the codes here for more help ...

i already went to pull the codes but none were found...i went on and flashed for about 30 seconds then turned off.

maye im hitting a mile marker too...i know in imports when u hit a certain mile marker the service engine light comes on.

it isn't slipping...thats all i can really tell...unless there is a way to check it without having to take out the tranny.

dont think the engine light comes on with mileage .....IMO ....TPS sensor or O2 sensor might be bad also ....

I wouldnt do any mods until you get this fixed, you shouldnt have a problem with 99.9% of civics and preludes. What do you mean your car was surging? Does it feel like it misses at all througout the rpm range? Is it bogging down? How is your throttle response?
