Hey Guys,

I want to put some SlP pipes on my girl but if I go with the non-muffled basically straightpipes do they backfire? Do i need a tune? Which ones do you recommend? I plan to get more mods and tune but money is tight right now so i am starting with just Axle back pipes. Thanks a lot for your time.

No, they don't backfire, you don't need a tune. The loudmouths are loud:nice:(mostly when your in the throttle) But don't drive you out of the car with a lot of drone. I have them and love them:D

Funny, mine do backfire. This only happens when the car has been sitting out for a while like in the morning and only when I shift into second. Does this sound normal or should I get it checked out?

Funny you should say that. Mine is bone stock and first thing in the morning, the transmission feels "notchy," especially between 1st and 2nd. Once it warms up...smooth as butter. Not sure if this is related to what your experiencing, but it's seems like it happens at similar times.

I have the LM2s and i love them. I'll see if i can post a sound clip for you when i get home. Let me ask you though. Are you going to be doing full exhaust in the future? Because if so the LM1s tend to sound tinny and make a rattle sound that is sickening!

Go to www.youtube.com and under search type in:

SLP mustang Exhaust, or Full SLP exhaust and see what you find just watch the vids and that should help you get a good idea of what they sound like.

Good Luck!

I plan to put in some headers later and an H pipe but not right away. How is your cabin noise? Can you still make a phone call and hear the radio?

Thanks

Well like i said i had the LM2s so i don't know about the LM1s. A lot of people like them but they are a little too loud for me.

Anyways when i had just the cat back. You could hear the exhaust inside the car but you could still make a phone call on your cell and hear the radio just fine.

Now once i added the SLP LTs and (catted) X-pipe it got real noisey in the car. I had to turn the radio up a little louder and i also had to turn the volume up on my phone. But it was worth it.

Once hear your car take off and you hear that exhaust tone. It just sounds so good! See heres the best part about SLP. If say you did order the LM1 kit and installed it (without welding it) if for some reason it was to loud for you you could just unbolt the resonators from the LM1 and buy a new pair of LM2 resonators and they will fit right up to your LM1 kit. It works both ways.

So in other words, LM1 & LM2 resonators are the exact same size so they can be swapped out for one another if you want.

Thats why i love SLPs bolt on exhaust kit.

I hope this helps you out. If you have any questions just let me know.

i had my local myffler shop make me some slip on "straight" pipes so i could remove them if it was too loud..................................but i'l never take them off:nice:
saved me a few hundres bucks too:p

Do you have any complaints running the straight pipes? Any backfiring? Any whine, drone or tinny noise? Thanks a lot.

there is a slight drone at 60 MPH or when the rpms are at about 4500, but i just took a 2 hour trip with my parents in the back seat(convertible) and it was fine. There is no backfiring, but it does "pop" like a IMSA car when you coast, my buddy did his 05 vette the same day and it sounds exactly the same.i wouldnt change a thing

Thanks man. I wondered how it would behave.:nice:

I have the SLP Loud Mouth exhaust on my car. I like it, you don't need a tune for it. I just wish you guys would refer to the SLP axlebacks correctly, which are the "Loud Mouth" and "PowerFlo" and not this LM1 and LM2 bull****.

I agree. they're two different products with two different names. The first time I heard 1 and 2 on here, I thought there were two types of Loud Mouths
