Ok so come spring I wanna put a set of SLP loudmouths on my car. Buuuut I live in *****ing Massachusetts and the laws around here get more and more rediculous every year. All I want to do is make the car sound a little more aggressive and just loud enough for people to notice. I dont want my car to be overly obnoxious. So I figured if I just do the exhaust from the cats back (no headers or H-pipe yet) Ill be ok. So does anyone have these on your GT and if so does anyone know roughly what the decibels measure at with this exhaust or something similar?

Im just curious because I think the limit in Mass is like 94 decibels or some crap like that. But I got pulled over about a month back coming home from work and ended up getting off with a written warning but the cop tried telling me that my exhaust is loud and I should really be careful. I basically thought to myself "b.s. because my car is BONE STOCK and the exhaust on these things stock arnt even that loud. A little more aggressive than a regular cars exhaust but not loud by any means." Then he told me that he could hear me accelerating from where he was which was across the street at the bottom of a hill with all these trees and a set of railroad tracks between us. Yeah maybe he could of heard me if I redlined the damn thing all the way down the hill but Im not a dumbass.

depends on which loudmouths. Loudmouth I, are the loudest(which are just resonators). The sound pretty decent as long as you keep you stock midpipe but are really loud.
Loudmouth IIs sound a little less quit but have a more aggressive sound to them.

If you just want people to notice and not want to be that loud I would get the SLP PowerFlos. They have a aggressive tone to them but not as loud as the Is or IIs.

Alright thanks for all the imput guys. Yeah I really wanna do the mid-pipe too but the state troopers around here are jerks and all they do is hassle people for the littlest things. Actually now that I think of it thats true for troopers no matter where you go. It sucks because I do most of my driving at night when Im coming home from work and the Mass State Troopers park right at the bottom of the hill of my job where the highway begins so everytime I pull out the stare me down.

Then there was the incident where I got pulled over and he claimed my exhaust was too loud even though its stock....

Man, if that's the case then I wouldn't get any exhaust work done. Is there any other route you could take so you can avoid that state trooper?

unfortunatly no there isnt... its a bunch of crap. Thats why I was wondering if anyone ever had the decibels measured on their setup. Its a bunch of crap its my car and my money and I cant even do one of the simplest mods. I only encounter them on my way home from work int he same spot. I get out wicked late at night so Im really the only one on that stretch of road until I hit the center of the next town. So I stand out wicked bad when hes sitting right there as I pull out of work.

Its rediculous because the only reason I work so late now is JUST to be able to afford my car loan and I dont even get to fully enjoy the car that I work my ass off for because of some stupid cops who have nothing better to do besides hiding behind a shrub across the street.

+1, if you're allready getting hassled for stock exhaust then you probably shouldn't look at the LM 1's. Like deftsound said maybe magnaflow or maybe some 3 chamber flows .

it kills me too because are 2 other guys that I know of with black 2001 GTs with 3.5 inch tips on their cars and exhaust setups that are so loud that I can hear them coming half a mile down the road. I saw one of em the other day on my way to work and all I could do was drool over the exhaust setup that I dream of having.

+1 on the Magnaflows.
Slightly louder than stock, deeper sound when just driving around but they will get quite loud, but not annoying, if you stomp on it.

This is the regular Magnaflow (15671), not the Magnapacks.
The Magnapacks are MUCH louder.

Also, if you do get them, it takes a month or two to break them in.
They get a little louder and deeper when broken in.

I have a 2003 vert so everything is louder inside and the Magnaflows are about as loud as I would go.

They do drone a little at 2000k under load, but everything does in these cars, especially the verts.
Not objectionable at all though, especially compared to say Flows.

No way I would go near SLP if you get complaints from LEO about stock.
SLP are great sounding, but are loud.

Yeah all I want is the catback. No headers or aftermarket mid-pipe. I figured it wouldnt be that loud if I did just the catback but I wasnt sure. I was also thinking going to my Ford dealer and seeing if I could get the Bullitt exhaust installed because this one is tuned to be a little louder and more aggressive than a stock GT. Plus if I get pulled over they cant really do anything since its still technically a stock exhaust setup because they are licensed Ford parts.

If your going to do that, then lose the wing(if you have one) and put bullit badges on your car
