I purchased a 2000 GT Convertible. I wanna buy a new exhaust system for it. Which would sound better the SLP exhaust system or the Borla Cat Back? I want the nasty muscle car sound, ex. the Roush sound . Let me know some websites I can find these for cheap. Thanks!

You want nasty, loud and obnoxious, the go with the SLP. If anything, the Borla system is only slightly louder than stock. Although it still does sound reeeeaaaallly nice.

I myself, am sick of all of the droney loud gnarly exhaust tones, so I'd probably go with the Borla....but sound is a personal preference.

You'd go with the Borla?
If you are sick of all of the droney loud gnarly exhaust tones...you better stay away from Borla [Stinger] because it's as nasty as it wants to be. Especially with an O/R midpipe. My Dynomax race bullets are slightly louder the the Stinger mufflers that I removed. Sweet.

What?? Mine is way louder than stock, its louder than some chambered cat-backs with mid pipes.

I'm talking about traditional kits utilizing borla XR mufflers, not the stingers. The earlier Borla kits were nice and quiet.....maybe they've since made them all with stingers?

If you want that nasty muscle car sound, I would go with a Mac Catback. Get you a Dr.Gas or UPR O/R X pipe. The SLP is loud but it has a more raspy exotic sound to it. The Mac has the deep throaty muscle car sound you are looking for.
I would go with the mid pipe first. If it's not too loud for you, then add the catback system because the midpipe will add some HP and it is cheaper than the catback. I got my UPR brand new for $139. It woke up the exhaust big time and gave me a little more umph.

SLP all the way. I've heard all the combinations, and I have yet to find someone who doesn't like the SLP better in person. Just avoid the O/R pipe.

Yeah but it usually goes out of most people's taste. SLP with a new catted midpipe sounds amazing

You might want to hear a car with SLP first. I personally like it but it seems 50/50 either love it or hate it. Doesnt seem to be much in the middle.

Mac Catback or Flowmaster Catback= nasty muscle car sound
SLP= loud raspy exotic car sound

SLP sounds good and loud, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't have that muscle car sound that he is looking for that he would get with a Mac. Especially if you put a Mac Prochamber with it. It'll give you that deep 5.0 rumble or a fox body with a 351 in it....

I would go with slp obviously. My friend has stingers and while they are loud they don't sound as wild as the loud mouth. Its cheaper and the quality is definitely there.

IMO neither really give the "muscle" car sound. In the local mustang group there are all kinds of exhaust. The loudest 2 IMO are a upr x with 1 chamber flows (muscle and loud as can be) OR H with borla stinger (JUST loud kinda tinny importish sound). Make me drool not as loud is a mac prochamber with flows dumped with a comp cam.
I currently have a OR prochamber with borla catback it is louder than stock it's louder than stock cat back with a prochamber. I have to have the stereo passed half volume just to hear it going down the road.
Bassini makes a nice loud system but price is high IMO and sound is kinda "importish" to me. more porsche less muscle car.
Mac catbacks sound like Flows to me. Dynomax sound like flows with less drone.
My best advice is go and listen to as many before you buy as possible.

SLP. if you wanna hear some sound clips, click the links in my sig. they sound good, but dont do it justice. i have slp catted X w/SLP Loudmouth 1. the raspiness you hear at the beginning of the clip before i go under a bridge is a small exhaust leak. got it fixed, turn heads everywhere. even had a guy with an LS1 give me a compliment. right before he took off and disappeared over the horizon...

one more thing, with slp, you may not be getting the muscle car sound you're after though. its more of a nascar sound, but my god is it loud!

borla is a lot louder then stock. i heard some stangs with slp and didn't like it at all, had no tone, just kinda there. which is why i bought the borla stingers and have no regrets.

I don't know where you get that SLP isn't a muscle car sound. In fact its most compared to the actual muscle mustangs in comparable sound.

If it has an O/R pipe though, it sounds like crap.
