the previous owner of my can took out the smog pump and left the pipe thats connected to the 2 heads and just put a cap on it ..

is it ok to leave it like that or is it bad to have that extra pressure lingering in there .. i had these plugs that were laying around i thought was just for those holes .. they are a little over 5/8ths wide and 7/16 long with the allen key head ..can i use them ? and will anything leak from the head or pipe if i remove the pipe ?
any info would be very much appreciated thanks fellas

all I did was unbolted the pipes from the back of the heads and put bolts in th ehole. I found 2 bolts that threaded right in.

you need two 5/8" 11tpi bolts about 1" long to plug the holes in the back of the heads. or you can use a spark plug. or leave the tubing capped. or cut the blocks off the tubing and flip them and rebolt them back on.

those bolts only hold the tubing to the heads. they are much smaller than the threaded passageway that you need to plug

unless u clear out the threads there gona be a pita to thread in. and if the heads are on the car, good luck cleaning the holes. u can take the crossover pipe off, cut the pipe off the little blocks, take the blocks and flip them around and put them back on the heads. if the heads are off, clean the threads and put bolts in them. your local ford dealer should have thermactor hole plugs for sale. i think i paid like $5 for 2, 5 yrs ago. just a thought

it wasn't too bad for me. i had a lot of carbon in there, but i just worked the bolts back and forth kind of like you would a tap. I went to the local bolt supply store, and just asked for a 5/8" bolt, 11 threads per inch, about 1" long. cost me 15 cents each.
