OK guys, now that I've removed the smog pump as per instructions from you all, and now the check engine light keeps lighting up, anyone have an answer on how to deal with this new problem....lol. I think I remember someone else had the same problem here, but I cant remember what was said on how to fix it. worst case scenario I'll pull the light out, but I'd rather not if anyone has a way around it. Thanks guys, all your help so far has been really usefull, keep it up. oh yeah!, the cars an 89 LX sport with the 5.0L. you can email me direct at ( [email protected] )
Catchya later.

since the smog pump removal is tripping your CEL, i think the only way to remove it is to tune it out. Tuner, PMS, custom chip.

edit: i don't know which directions you followed, did you make sure to plug up the hoses and the part from the heads?

Check engine light

Yep, i plugged the vaccum lines. i dont have access to a tuner. since i'm trading this mustang off for a newer one, i want to make sure the engine light doesnt keep lighting up on the new owner. any ideas?, besides a chip and etc?.

yeah, i plugged the hoses to the heads too.

didnt touch any EGR stuff, just the smog pump and plugged all lines is all.

sounds like the only option is to remove the light i guess.

hey criticman and 95gtv8, thanks for the info guys. catchya later

Did you remove any EGR stuff too? That would throw an error.

If so, there is a way to short that fuse, remove the error light.

If not, no clue what else would cause it unless something went wrong.

If you would have left the smog pump control solenoid in place, you wouldn't get the CEL light. I have seen 80-100 ohm, 2 watt resistors used in place of the solenoids, but that requres some fabrication that most people aren't into doing.
