smog pump ?????

Hi i have 95 v6 that i did a motor swap in and i bought a donar car and took out the motor and tranny and when the gt was smashed it melted a black tube that comes off the smog pump in a 1 inch black hose and the first one got melted, and i was wondering if you needed it or if you could just put a connector in there and say screw

In short the main purpose of the smog pump is to act like a blast furnace and pump fresh air to the cats, to prevent premature damage.

If you do not have cats, you can just remove the smog pump if you want. If you go this route, just get a shorter belt to compensate for the lack of the pump.
