hey, got a weird problem that just started happening.....my car will sometimes smoke out of the left tailpipe only....but it only does it once in a while??? usually on a hot start up it will puff a bit of white smoke, and when you come to a stoplight when its hot it sill smoke a lil??? there is no smoke at all under acceleration or anything though? doesnt do it everytime either but seems to be getting worse? Its a fresh h/c/i car, got a couple thousand miles on the swap...never smoked before....oil pressure is about 24#'s hot idle, at hot cruise its 45#'s...it uses a bit of oil not much though. My dad said it was a headgasket, but my car doesnt use antifreeze or anything? any ideas???????? sorry long post..
thx

Sounds like a HG or intake gasket problem. Could even be the egr leaking into the manifold if you didn't bypass it.

If it's smoking enough to see it, it's buring oil or coolant.

Remember if it smokes at start up then goes away after a minute or two then chances are its a head gasket blown. Coolant is seaping through, but once it heats up it seals its self off.

Now if its smoking going down the road out of one pipe then chances are its burning oil. Not good!
Alot of people can smell the difference between antifreeze and oil burning, but efinately something needs to be looked at either way. Just pray for a headgasket...lol

Might want to do a comp check to see if the rings are worn.

If you get a low cylinder, put a few drops of machine oil and if the pressure increases you've found the culprit.

how exactly do you blow a headgasket with an N/A car? what are all the symptoms of a blown headgasket? It does not smoke while going down the road so hopefully its not using oil or something like needing the bottom end rebuilt.

The egr spacer has coolant lines that run to, mine has always been bypassed.
Usually if you blow a HG natural, it was assembled poorly.

Coolant runs through the intake to the heads and block, if you screw up the gasket install or use the wrong gasket (happens sometimes) it will leak.
