Well earlier this year I posted a question about having smoke come threw the vents and such.

Well early last month I took the car on a 120+mile cruise and found the issue. The rear trans. seal that seals the tailshaft and the driveshaft was leaking. It wasnt bad but by the time I got home the car smelled like DEX .

It was a light smell that smelled like elec. burning almost but VERY faint at the time when I first noticed it in the spring. From what I gather the fumes were coming up threw the shifter (I had to cut my rubber boot to clear the aftermarket shifter alittle) ever so slightly and up threw the dash and out the vents and stuff.

Fun time getting that 5$ seal replaced . Found out jacking up my car that the bullitt springs have settled alittle and my roll jack was a PITA to find a spot it now will go under. I just need to get some pats cleaner/break cleaner and hose off the DEX that got slung all around the tunnel.

Anyway, just thought I would post as I remember a few others saying a sim. issue.

Same thing happened to me. but I spent alot more to have somone else doit bad mistake. cost alot but it was better than having tranny fluid on the undercarrage and all over the rear bumper and trunk.

Good catch. I'm leaking out my tailshaft seal, too. I think my bushing is shot, so my slip yoke needs replacing + the seal. Need to hurry up and find some money that fell out of an armored car already, so I can put a trans that won't break in. Of course I'd also like a 434W Dart based stroker...
