I did the alternator upgrade to a 130amp one and wired it in temporarly till I did my intake upgrade (3mos wire strung across the intake). I just buttoned up the intake upgrade and cleaned up the wiring on the alternator all nice and tucked. No issues before. I think I put it on a differnet lug of the solenoid as it started but I think I let the smoke out of the starter as when I attempted to rev it there was a aweful racket a terrible stick and now she will not start. If I put the alternator power feed wire to the wrong lug would I smoke the starter from the gear not disengaging? This sound plauseable?

So the typical way they are wired up is a 4 ga wire from the battery (+) to the battery side of the inner fender solenoid, a 4 ga wire from the battery side of the inner fender solenoid to the battery side of the solenoid on the mini starter. Then a 12 or 10 ga wire from the starter side of the inner fender solenoid down to the mini starter an connected to the smaller stud or some may have a male spade connection.

Your alternator feed wire should either go on the battery side of the inner fender solenoid or the 12V+ side of the battery if its under the hood. If its under the hood then use 4 ga wire and a 140amp fuse like a Bussmann stud mount style.

With all of that said, if you put the alternator feed wire on the starter side of the inner fender solenoid it would keep the solenoid on the starter engaged when the engine was running which is no bueno.
