Hey guys, I just picked up an 81 hatchback and am planning on some brake upgrades mostly for the 5 lug conversion. I already acquired a set of 94-95 spindles as well as new hubs. As far as the calipers go, they also take a mounting bracket correct? Like this one:

And now to the calipers. Will only 94-95 calipers work on this spindle or can I use 96-04 parts on these spindles as well? Is the V6 car stuff any different than the GT stuff? Not really looking to spend a whole lot on these as it will be daily driver so there is no need for 13" Cobra brakes unless it is fairly cheap to go that route. Thanks in advance for any hlep.

The rear caliper bracket resembles the photo you posted. The fronts mount differently, they don't have the rubber grommets and sliders. 94-98 V6 and GT brakes will work without modification, but 99-04 two-piston front calipers will require you to grind a bit off of the spindle for clearance. Otherwise they will bolt right on. 94-98 V6 & GT brakes are all identical, and the 99-04 V6 & GT also share the same rear brakes.

I happen to have a pair of two-piston front calipers & brackets from a 2000 GT that I'm not using. PM me if you'd be interested in them, since sales talk isn't allowed in the forums.

Matt, thank you for the useful info. A friend has a wrecked 97 V6 Mustang that he is parting out. I'm gonna take a look at it, if he doesn't have what I need I will be in touch.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

I think I have a set of stock front calipers around here somewhere. They are new (Cardone rebuilts) in the box. If you can't find what you need, make me an offer.
