I have it and LOVE it! Everyone has an opinion on what they like and I really like the Sniper. I like that you can use it on 2 different cars and they don't even have to be Mustangs. The pre loaded tunes are spot on and they can all be tweaked. Also, you can monitor just about anything you need in real time right on your lap top and tune from that. I do however highly recommend reading the directions several times and using them the first few times you use the tuner. Also, the customer support is great. Of course, it helps that I only live like 30 mintues away form them, lol.

What gauge pods? Gauge pods...we don't need no stinkin' gauge pods! (lol, j/k) I can select everything I want to monitor and have it right on my lap top. to see.

Do you know what a livewire is? It's a dash/ console mounted tuner that also has a gauge display. You should check it out. I hate those stupid A-pillar and dash mounted "ricer pods" - the livewire can show the exact same readouts without all the gayness. And when you don't need to see the display - just remove the unit. Much cleaner looking. Much less ricey looking. SCT Automotive Performance Products

Yes, i know exactly what a Live Wire is. Like I said before, everyone has their preference on what they like. That's why we have so many companies making so many products. I'm not knocking the Live Wire...at all. All that I am saying is that I have a Sniper and love it. I don't understand why you think that gauges are needed with the Sniper tuner? Although, I do share your sentiment on gauges. I really dis like a lot of unnecessary gauges. As I said before, when I need to, I just monitor everything on my laptop. When I'm done..violla! No gauges. The lap top goes back in the house.

Well - I have seen lots of pics of peoples N/A cars on here with A/F meters or oil temp etc. I have also seen boosted cars with boost gauges. The thing I like about the livewire is it helps to clean up the dash if you previously had all those gauges. It also has the built in accelerometer for 1/4 mile times with a built in shift tree and also 0-60, 0-100, etc with a shift tree. Lots of cool goodies. And you can plug in your widebands or any other external sensors.

I don't understand why you think you need gauges if you have any other tuner other than a Live Wire???

I'm not saying you need them. But I've noticed a LOT of people on here have them. Take a look at some peoples interior pics when posted. You'll occasionaly see a N/A mustang with the ricer gauge pods on the A Pillar.

OK dude, no offense but you really don't know what you're talking about. Sure some people might have gauges when they don't "need" them...but saying it's useless to have an a/f gauge, fp gauge, or boost gauge is silly. There are SO many things you can diagnose with a mechanical "old tech" gauge that you can't with a computer readout. Livewire is NOT a full on tuning solution like the sniper setup, it's just like an xcal3 with an LCD display for datalogging/viewing.

As far as sniper goes, I haven't used it but IMO it looks to be much easier to use than pro racer as its based off AFR's directly.

yea really anything at anytime can go wrong with a modded car so having an "eye" on things and catching them when they do, is a good idea. I'd rather be able to monitor whats going on with my car at all time and not just when i hook up my lap top. I'm also not knocking the livewire, i'm just saying. BTW your car IS sleeper and i do like it, don't think i'm knocking you either.

So - since you've never used the Sniper tuning system you are qualified to call it a "full on tuning solution"? I've never driven a BMW but it is, without a doubt, the ultimate driving machine. And this is the best part "I haven't ever used it - but it LOOKS to be much easier". Come on dude - at least look at the pros and cons before you bash it. I went through and looked at everyones old posts on their tuning systems before I made my purchase - and I based it on what I deemed to be essential, user friendly, and not needing upgrading in the future. Sniper is a good system if you're looking simply for a tuning system with good company support/feedback. I wanted a tuning system with loads of features that feel into the tuning category and into the toys/not 100% necessary category.

I am using the sniper tuning special forces software now and love it so far. The thing that i like about it is that you can build as many custom tunes as you want. it offers all the tuning parameters as sct or diablo and then some. The software will even build you a "safe" supercharger tune it wont be spot on but it will be close and you wont have to worry about smoking your engine on the way to the dyno. you can also step up to the comando software that is on par if not better then sct pro racer IMOP. plus it cheaper the pro racer. I got mine from rpmoutlet ( never had a problem with them) but I would reccomend you buy it from will at vindicatedtuning@yahoo.com. will dyno tuned my car and did a awsome job. he is more then happy to help out if you have any issues and gets back to you asap. pm me if you would like a phone number. willy at dirtydirtyracing.com is also a good guy to buy from. another strong point is the recon data logging. it has more parameters then a handheld and you can veiw everything in real time.

LOL you should have got the pro racer package then, and not a livewire, which is nothing more than an LCD screen on an Xcal3 with some bells and whistle TOYS built in. The sniper stuff is about tuning yourself, just like pro racer. Obviously you haven't really "checked it out" either if you think sniper stuff isn't feature packed. And WOW the livewire can display a/f, egt, etc....oh wait so can my laptop with my old xcal 2 and live link (oh wait, isn't that the SAME software livewire uses to datalog?). I'm not bashing and products, all I'm saying is you don't know what you're talking about, and trying to act like you do just makes it that much more obvious.

Any idiot could go read the info on the web about either and tell you a livewire FLASH DEVICE is no where close to a the sniper SOFTWARE (or pro racer for that matter), it's just on a completely different level.

If your dash still looks how it does in your most recent album - I would still suggest a livewire. Wire's coming through your door sill and through the dash could be avoided. You could also streamline your dash with the livewire by being able to get rid of that gigantic tachometer / gigantic shift light combo. I thought about the Pro Racer package - but I'm not a pro racer. This is one of my daily drivers that I like to play around with. I'll leave the serious tuning to the experts - because I am definitely not one. If my car was making me money(ie: racing for a living) - then the extra few hundrer dollars might be worth it - EVEN THOUGH YOU WILL PROBABLY ONLY GAIN 3 OR 4 HORSEPOWER ON A N/A SET UP.

wel i have been using the software/tuner for a few months and i love it.

i can tune for 87 octane to 110 octane and adjust it for best times.

i also have a tune for fuel economy. i went from 14mpg with no tune to ~24 mpg by fooling with it.

i can also write a nitro methane tune. which i have run a few times with 10 percent and 104 octane fuel.

a bazillion compression ratio/fuel curves to play with. and iof you get the commando its the PRP a lot cheaper.

AND THEY SUPPORT YOU LIKE NO OTHER FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats worth everything to me. no nickel and diming one bad mailed tune after another. to hell with that.

AND IF I PUT THE 4.6 3V IN I CAN TUNE FOR IT.

no VE errors. if i feel like turboing it. well crap it lets me tune draw through or blow-through.

or any other kind of power adder. i dont need some fellow to custom write the VE tables to >110 percent. it does it for you. no $600.00 dyno session. i tune at the dyno for just dyno time($90.00/4 runs).

you guys know i make drastic changes to my combo regularly. the intake i am making(forever to finish) may require a new tune as loading at certain rpms may cause pre-ignition with the current tune.

1 tune for economy low shift pressures, high spark advance at low rpm's/low loading only.
1 tune for 87 octane dragging(still makes plenty of torque shift at 5600)
1 tune for open exhaust 100+ octane fuel
1 tune for 93 octane racing race shifting at 6000rpm.
1 tune for 108+octane with up to 20 percent nitro-methane.

and it goes on and on.
