Do not remove what’s left of the oil pain gasket . It will never not leak it’s one piece with metal in it . You’re flirting with disaster doing that . If it were me I would keep that half moon piece that broke off above . Use a liberal amount of grey rtv “ the right stuff on the half moon , cover , pan where the gasket it and put it together.

Every HB I have ever done I’ve been able to install with a half inch ratchet and it presses down the crank nice and easy . If you wanted to impact it at the end once it’s seated sure but torque wrench is best
Ok, so reuse the half moon with the liberal rtv, especially where the broken part is. K.

I have this JB weld ultimate black, is that good enough or go get the grey (where?)

I agree. Dont cut the gasket. I was just trying to think of a way to use the one new piece that goes under the timing chain housing. If the piece that came off during removal might still be good to use.

Everything back together last night. Filled with water to perform a basic pressure test. Let it idle for 5-10 min. Saw tstat open and temp drop. No leaks saw*

Drained radiator through the plug. Filled system with 2 gallons of unmixed, which is all it took. Seems like there was ~1.5 gallons remaining in the system. I’m planning on letting this play out.

Planned next step is a couple 5 min rides up the road. Keep checking fluid level, as well as temp and oil pressure gauge.

Anything else I should be checking?

Where did you go @JAA ?
Im still here. Check in regularly to see the updates. Been kinda cold this winter in MA.

Had the audio done. Ill post some pic's once I get it out on the road. Need at least 60-something temps outside.

On the docket for the spring is boring stuff. I want to fix the all the window motors so I can not be afraid of it raining while on the road. Had a scare when I needed to put the top up but couldn't get any of the windows up.

My dad is also bringing up some gt40 heads or Cobra heads, one of those. That project will get in there. Once the, uh - amenities, are done then will come the MM sfc's. If I can get those done by summer id consider it a success.

Thanks for checking in!
