Is this needed? Looks like charcoal evap or something? I’m smog delete, is it needed?

That’s the PCV valve filter screen. Pretty readily available so you can try and get it out to reuse but I usually just install a new one as I tore the only one up I tried to remove.

Hole in firewall is AC evaporator core drain for condensate. Coolant will also come out of it if the heater core pops.

Most cars that are smog delete keep the charcoal canister. It goes back to the gas tank and the vapors from the tank push into this canister. It then is introduced into the intake via the evap valve which is electrically operated.

Attachments are the ends of the old pipe that attached to the back of the heads that was part of the smog system. Used them to plug those ports off. Aftermarket heads typically have the holes and you have to put these in them:

I had to put them in bother ends of the heads.

Cylinder heads do not have a left right so it does not matter.

I would not worry about the numbers stamped in the heads. Not what the "valves are sunk" means. Regardless having new guides, and valve job done, and resurfacing the heads is not expensive compared to new heads if that is what "it's not worth it" was referring to. Basically confused by most of that but I if the machine shop is saying rebuilding the heads is not worth it go to another shop.

Cooling rail are the metal heater tubes that run between the water pump and intake ports to the heater core.

As for the fuel rails. They can be very gently polished with 0000 steel wool. Use something like WD40 for a lubricant....on the injector rails.

Awesome, thanks.

I will try the steel wool. Using some scotch brite worked well. I’ll try the steel wool next.

Yea - spoke to the guy who I got the heads from. He says machine shop is full of it. Weird as I was ready to hand out cash. FWIW going rate for machining in MA for v8 heads is $300.
