Progress Thread Snow - 93 GT Vert. Prepping for sale

Gonna have to adjust the temp, way hot. Cockpit guage went to 3/4's, radiator and upper hose too hot to touch.

Maybe thermostat went. I put the old one back in, should be fine but ya never know.
I am getting close to first start on my car.... I am going to leave the thermostat out for this to eliminate a thermostat problem and making it easier to bleed out the air.....

I am telling you just drill a 1/8" hole here:

No need to leave it out and bleed things off. If you are concerned if the thermostat will open or not then put it in a pot of water, put it on the stove, insert a thermometer and see what temp it opens up at.

I think your drilling a hole is a great idea and I use it and know lots of people who do that..
What I am saying is during a new start, with no T Stat, I think its an easier way to get the air bled out of an engine while you have alot of other things going on ... Install the T stat after initial run and break in.....

Let in run for a while. Wanted to make sure the fans cooled it adequately.

I see a slight coolant drip out of this front lower intake stud. Is this something I just teighten down, or do I need to do much more work? I dont think I used thread sealer on any of the lower intake studs.

Oh man, it’s been at least 10 years since I put them on so I don’t have a clue. If you have calipers measure what you have as so believe that is what I ended up doing.

Just redid that jacket stud/nut with thread sealant. Even torqued in 3 steps for luck. How long to let the thread sealant seal, 24 hours?

Step 1 8 ft/lbs
Step 2 16 ft/lbs
Step 3 23-25 ft/lbs

Went to the local car show with my oldest and his Magnum. Those Dodge Magnum's are pretty rare. He has the R/T version with the 5.7 hemi. I gotta give him credit for choosing something original.

I noted 2 things with Snow, not sure if they are correlated.
  1. Idles at around 1200 which feels high.
  2. I tend to drive super conservatively and shift way early in the band. Ive never had an issue with this before. Gear shifting was different. It felt like the car didnt want to go below like 1.5 or 2 RPM. When I would shift into 5th, the car and especially the shifter would shake, like really bad. If I shifted into 5th much higher in the band everything was OK.
Im speculating here that timing is off, or maybe I need to reset something. Ill start reading about what this could be, but thought I would ask. Not even sure if these 2 things are correlated.

Oh, and more more slight intake coolant leaks. Yay. One on the front sensor fitting driver side and the other on the hose clamp going into the intake from the EGR rear of passenger.
