snow tires???

So it snowed about 6-7 inches here and I had to drive the stang hom in it. I wasnt really bad till i stopped and had to move again. Sometimes I would get stuck and It was horrid. Trying to park on the street cause i have to driveway sucks cause I keep getting stuck. especially on packed icy snow. The question it do snow tires really help a great deal?? Im thinking of either M3`s or blizzacks. Anyone have any advise and experiances???

first year i owned my mustang i drove it in the winter. I bought some cheap v6 mustang wheels off ebay for 200 shipped then bought Michelin Artic Alpin's . they helped out a bunch and made the car almost driveable. If I had to i would buy them again, but i opted for a $500 beater instead

I live in Michigan, so I bought a spare set of 96-98 Dual 5 Spoke Mustang rims off some guy for 100 bucks. I did this so the snow wouldn't chip at my chrome rims for the summer. I bought some Dunlop M'3 and couldn't be more impressed. I was expecting the mustang to handle terribly in the winter from all the neysayers about me getting a mustang. With the traction control, and all four M'3's on the car, the car honestly handles better than both of my parents trailblazers. Sure, you'll still spin, but it's like any rear wheel drive car. My advice is buy good winter tires, and dont go cheap. They will last your about four winters I was told. Good luck.

Yep snow tires will make you drive just fine. I prefer it to 4wd and SUV's. If you know how to handle the tailside of the stang you will be fine. Having that tail be loose like that makes it much easier to regain control and counter steer. Whereas with that SUV if it's gone, it's gone you can't really do much except crank your wheel the other way and hope it follows.

I just have 2 blizzaks's on the rear and have no problems in the snow. They are on V6 rims (205-65-15). I'm too cheap to get all 4 snow tires.

I have Dunlop M3's all the way around. No problems driving around in the snow. Traction control and Dunlop M3's make it seem like there is no snow on the ground.

I run hercules Polar trax225/60/16 on steel wheels and can say with complete surprise...I will not be getting stuck this winter, the car is a completely new animal....I more than recommend snow tires. They are on my wifes 04GT vert, and the whole package only put me back $675 canadian.

Get 4 V6 wheels and 4 studded snows (I use and recommend Winterforce tires made under Dayton, Bridgestone and Firestone brand names). I've driven Mustangs (and a RWD Cougar) in winter for the last 10 years or so. I've always had studded snows for winter and I've never been stuck. I've passed 4WD's on the road and in the ditch. I've also done SCCA road rallies in some wicked bad weather on studded snows. They are THE only way to go in the Winter regardless of what you drive. You will stop turn and go way better than with regular tires.

Keep you head about yourself and you'll be golden. There is a lot more traction to be had in bad weather than people think.
