so i'm at the beach (ocean city md) last night at about 1:00 am on my way to a friend's house, just cruising, and these two guys (in a talon and a riced out cougar) must have seen me because they were going the other way and a few minutes later they were next to me. so we are at a red light and they are revving and $hit. the light turns green and they take off, but i am still just cruising. so they slow down again and the next light they start off slow with me and then at about 20 they both step on it. i'm still just cruising. i turned off a couple of blocks later and didn't see them again.

i am sure they were trying to get me to run with them.

it was hard to resist, but i was proud of myself for not getting into a race with them. i saw like 4 cops in the 40 blocks i was in oc; i really don't feel like getting yanked into court for street racing.

am i a wimp?

You did the right thing. One mistake in street racing could prove fatal.

Definitely a smart move. I have been to Ocean City many many times and if you aren't doing the speed limit they will pull you over, much less racing. I know it's hard to resist but you made the right decision.

You did the right thing. Save the racing for the track.

You're not a wimp for not wasting your gas. Gas is too damn expensive these days. I personally couldn't resist racing a Lightning that pulled up on side of me Saturday night. Needless to say I have a win against a Lightning under my belt now. But I always make sure the street is clear before I do that.

was the cougar black??? bc if it was, that gay wad lives down here by me. huge wing and everything. i make fun of him all the time whenever i see him. he doesnt do anything about it bc he knows ill kick his head off his shoulders. but you arent a wimp. when i was in OC, i raced a 2001 V6 Stang bc he was talking crap about GTs. Needless to say, those 4 cars i spotted him did NO good. it was "cute" to try though.

Smart move. OC does not have the kind of streets to race on. If you like to open it up on a highway that's fine but not OC.

No,you're not a wimp.By not racing them they probally looked really dumb to anyone watching.Anyhow,it's better not to race than to race and get in trouble.

I street race all the time, but I never do it on any main roads. If you end up getting pulled over on a main street for that, they will screw you as hard as possible. If you can put other peoples besides your own life at risk, thats when they get extra pissed. I've gotten pulled over 3 am on a deserted Rte 110 going 103 and just gotten a warning. Despite my occasionaly idiocy, I've never gotten a moving violation. There's a time and a place for that stuff, but I definately think you were right this time.

Off topic - I don't get why everyone keeps talking about how the track is a lot safer. If anything, you'll end up going faster at the track then you would in a street race. If you're on a wide open highway without traffic except the guy running you, I don't see how the track is any safer. Plus, with launches on Drs, power shifting, etc, going to the track is much worse for your car as well. If a riced out Civic driver starts raggin on me, and the traffic conditions warrant it, it's on. None of us bought mustangs to go up to 65, except at the track, and we all know it.
