So frustrated!! Thoughts Please

Hey guys I've been having a bit of a problem with my cobra. I have this annoying noise occuring and it doesn't matter if the car is under load or in neutral. If I accelerate under load the noise is more noticable than if its in neutral but I can still hear it if I rev the engine quickly. I don't really know if i can describe the noise accurately but its sounds like a cross between an exhaust leak and pinging. When I first started to diagnose the problem i thought it was pinging. Checked my timing, put 93 oct. in, changed all spark plug and wires. After that changed header gaskets, tightened all exhaust connections. Put a clamp of the smog pump tube to bassani x-pipe. It sounds like its coming from underneath the car but now I am stuck. I don't know where to look next. can someone help me. Thanks

pull the valve covers n check the rocker arms... good luck man, i had this problem, but it was my timing

I also have a tick in my engine...it really sounds like its either coming from the rotor in the distributer or someing in the distributer or it could be under my drivers side valve cover. Is this side able to be taken off easily?

It would be 10x easier on either side if intake came off. to take off passenger valve cover the intake needs to come off and drivers valve cover is a bit easier to access but still I think the intake would need to come off

You can take a broom stick or long metal pole and place throughout the engine to locate the noise.

Ticking - Exhaust leaks / Rocker ticks / Lifters / Something loose

Knocking - Not good!

Can you isolate what side of the motor?

It sounds like its coming more from the drivers side. Its hard to determine where exactly its coming from because its more noticable under load. I can't sit on top of the motor and listen where its coming from while accelerating. I might take a look at the rocker arms tomorrow.

any other possibilities???
