So how did you guys do at SIR? Was it bracket racing or heads up? I've never had a chance to race out there yet. I'm going to make a point of going next year. Sounds like it's a really good track. I've heard nothing but really good things about it from some of our track junkies.

I had a really good day. It was my first time racing, so I'm just happy I didn't break anything or do something stupid, lol. Managed a best of 15.6 @ 88, which was about what I was expecting. I think the AOD is really holding me back, but I am lovin the mileage.

Erin (Girl22?) recognized my car and introduced herself, but I didn't get to meet anyone else. There were a ton of cars there, I think I heard the announcer say over 120?

Right on. The most important thing is to have fun. There will always be faster cars than you. That is still a good time you posted. I just love going to the track even if I do get my butt kicked. It's just an adrenalin rush being able to floor your car without having the red and blues in your mirror! Good work . It's always cool to meet stangnet people in person.

It was a good afternoon of racing. Russ ran a 12.2 and could have run a high 11 by his estimation but his clutch gave out. Kevin drove my car on it's first pass to show me how it was done, he clicked off a 14.603 @ 96.041. I then proceeded to run a 15.392 @ 93.742, then a 15.037 @ 94.222, then a 15.467 @ 96.351, and my final run was a 14.617 @ 95.067. I almost beat Kevin's time so that was awesome! All in all it was a fun day. My last run could have been faster but I had a passenger along for the ride, as I did for all but one pass.

A 12.2???? That is hauling! That's awesome for a 4.6 with some juice. You did way better than most people their first time. Nice run on the 14.6 . It just takes a little seat time to figure out where to shift and how to launch. Looks like you did real good on that last one though! You probably could have picked up a tenth or two without the passenger. About a tenth for every 100lb's the person is. That puts you under mid 14's which is really good. Any cool/different cars out there?

I think I was wrong about the clutch. As it turns out I burnt two spark plugs(guess 1 step colder wasn't enough for the 175 shot). I only noticed that the car wasn't accelerating nearly as hard and I assumed it was the clutch but,it was just the car completely missing on 2 cylinders and loading up on the rest. I'm still gonna replace it cause it definately was slipping last time out. But yeah,I completely let off the gas the last 150-200 feet of the track so I'm quite sure if it had held it would have been a 12.0 or maybe an 11.9. Guess we'll have to wait till next year and see!

Damn Russ get that thing tuned before you have new pistons in your future again. If you melted 2 plugs you were very lean.

That's exactly what I was thinking. You guys who are running nitrous, do you change your plugs at the track or do you always run colder on the street too? If you do run the colder plugs on the street does it hamper performance much?

I run colder plugs with the S/C'er all the time. Makes no difference except no detonation.

youre supposed to run colder plugs anytime you spray, so if you never use it on the street, you can run normal plugs.. but i know someone with a red GT, that uses nitrous on the way to work

I run the 1 step colder plugs all the time, just in case.If you check the website they recommend 2 steps colder for anything 150hp and bigger. So it was no surprise, just not enough for-thought on my part. The reason for the colder plugs is too account for the higher combustion chamber temps, when making that much hp(to help keep the plugs at a safe temp),not from being lean.I think a fuel pressure guage and a Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump will find their way into the car next year anyway.I have noticed a little rougher start up with the colder plugs.
