i will try to explain this a best as possible....so here it goes. no matter how easy iam on my car it burns a half a tank every 60 miles? i drive my car pretty slow and easy any other time and i get way better mileage than that...so my question is what should i check? my fuel filter is around 3 months old and i changed the plugs about 8 months ago..could it be the cop? or the plugs..thanks for any help. jacob

Start with cleaning your air filter. Could also be the O2 sensors.

The tank in the Mustang is ~13 imp. gallons. If you're using ~6.5 of those to travel 60 miles, you're getting 9.2MPG. I don't know if you're exaggerating but that's definitely a problem...

My supercharged GT does better than that, even driven "moderately" hard.

Sorry, this senstence isn't clear to me. Is this a recent development? Does the on-set of the ****ty economy coincide with other work done to the car? You say the fuel filter is three months old: Did the drop in economy start at about that time?

Any mods? How long have you had the car? Did it ever get better economy or has it always been a pig?

Are you getting an MIL (check engine light)?

How's the driveability?

Any fuel smells outside the car?

my cel is on from the mid pipe not having cats....and i looked at the front o2 sensors and one of the wires on both of them are about to break apart. i have had the car for little over a year now and it go way better mileage when i got it....it just started to do this about 2 weeks ago. the only mods i have is the o/r h pipe and flows i took the cai off and put the stock one back on with a k&n filter.im starting to think its the o2 sensors?

Have you read the codes lately? Burning that much fuel, I would think there's something else besides the rear O2's showing up.

yea i read them today and the only codes that come up are for the rears. could the wire on the front 02s be causing the problem? does the fronts have that much effect on how the car runs?
