Didn't they have a big block one, and a couple small block ones or something?

That one part of the movie where he broke the pass side mirror off......how do I make mine sound like that?

Which one are you talking about? The real one, or the Nicholas Cage one?

Most of the audio effects in films are "engineered" any more. That car could have had an I-6 and they just dub a knarly V8 sound in post production.

I agree with Historic. I have both and think the original is the best. During the summer of 2004 I took a trip out to the Northwest. There was a museum along the way with a good collection of cars. I'm not sure but I think it was in South Dakota. They had a Gone In 60 Seconds Mustang. The man in charge (curator?) said that it was the actual car that Nicholas Cage drove in the high speed chase scene down the drainage ditch. If he was being truthful or not I don't know. Anyway if it was it had a 351 Windsor in it and an NOS bottle in the trunk. I've got pictures but I don't know how to post. I'm very computer illiterate. They also had a General Lee that he said was one of the early cars used in the Dukes Of Hazard. It had a 318 column shift in it.

My 2 - 1/2 inch exhaust with Flowmaster 40's (original, not Delta) sound pretty similar. You've got to have a lumpy cam though for it to sound like that scene in the movie.

The "Bullitt" chase scene inspired me to finish mine. I put a new factory 2.25" stock duel exhaust in it and it sounded just like the movie sound. When I went to replace it for more flow the resonators only had about a 1 inch diameter hole through them. Talk about restrictions......but they sounded good.

I'm a fan of both movies, but calling the original a better movie is kind of a stretch for me. I'm sorry but it's a terrible movie. Great car chase, but a miserable movie, but that's just my opinion. Niether one is very beleiveable, but that's beside the point. After all, what's the last realistic car movie you ever saw? American Grafitti? Other than that they're all a bit corny and far-fetched at times. Not that you couldn't jump a '67 Shelby GT500 from a slide-bed tow truck over a huge, multi-car pileup on the Vincent Thomas with no damage...

They portrayed some damage as a result of the jump. The radiator was leaking and the front fascia was damaged. Me, I get that if I go over a speed bump too fast. NC jumped 10 cars over bridge, but you know....

at the angle the car landed, I would expect the thing to resemble more of a taco then a shelby mustang.

Exactly. My CRF450 has roughly a foot of suspension travel at each end and is meant to be jumped, yet I cringe at the thought of a flat landing from 20 feet up. Yet they expect you to think a vintage, unibody car with maybe 3 inches of suspension and a big-block (remember, it's supposed to be a GT500) hanging over the front wheels lands with minimal damage. Still, aside from that, I love the chase scene and the sound of Eleanor.

:Word: Glad somebody said it. I've seen better acting on those softcore **** movies they show on Showtime at 3AM. The original is also funny cause everyone dresses like a bunch of pimps with big coats and fuzzy hats.
The remake at least had some comedy relief to it.

If you watch the special features on GI60S(the new one), you can see the stunt guy jump the smaller ramp to simulate the landing on the bridge. After the landing, the rear gets squirelly and he eats the concrete barrier in the median head on.

Who needs good acting with a chase scene & car like Eleanor (the original of course)! At least all the stunts were real and not computer enhanced...and if you have one of the original VHS tapes (not the re-release), you can hear what the car relly sounded like.

The only real Shelby in the movie, is the one you hear. Tee other cars all had small-blocks, the sound was recorded off a real Shelby BB.

BTW. the original film is much cooler, just because it's in a '70s setting.

I would never have thought it possible to make a movie featuring Angelina Jolie and a 67 Shelby GT500(cloned or otherwise) that sucked.

Why not? I have personally seen an orange Charger (the one with the confederate battle flag on the roof) jump accross rivers over and over without damage, in fact the two riders never wore seat belts.

EDIT: Maybe it was because the doors were welded shut, must have added a lot of strength by doing that.
