BTW, McQueen did all of his own driving in that movie. He was also in a WWII movie where they were escaping from a POW camp in Germany. At the end of the movie, he steals a German motorcycle and tries to get out of the country as they chase him. Not only did he do all his own riding for that, he also did some of the German soldiers that were chasing him.

Alas, he did some of the riding in that, and yes you see him being chased by himself. The jump over the fence was by Bud Ekins, Steve's buddy. The barbed wire fence was made of rubber, assembled by the fellow cast members.

Jeez, DVD extras make me sooooo boring. I even have The Great Escape theme tune as my ring tone. Agggggggh.

I am a twenty something and have owned two mustangs, know who steve mcqueen is, love the movie, understand the mach 1 and bullitt heritage. As a matter of fact before I sold my first stang I popped in Sheryl Crows - Steve McQueen and cruised for a while. Then went and traded her in for the family car to house the child seats. Of course, my dad showed me the path we I started to stray (took a firebird for a test drive before the mustang).

I think the best thing to teach our children the proper lessons is to keep one around. I understood the mustang but I was not fully aware of the mustang until my dad got one and let me drive it. Then I embraced the mustang.

thats what i have read/heard as well. something about it being in a barn and the owner won't sell it or let anyone see it or something. sounds alittle far fetched, but perhaps it's true. the other mustang was diffinately toast and was written off.
