I bought a "chip" which is basically just a wire with a resistor on it. It cost $7 and it plugs directly into my MAF. It is suppose to trick the computer into thinking that it is cold outside so it dumps more fuel into the chamber! Well, it worked... for about a week! All of a sudden my Stang just started to buck, kick, spit... pretty much anything that a horse can do other than bite! It was also missing on Cylinder #6. so i changed the plugs and the miss magically disappears, but the only problem which still remains is that while cruising at the same speed for a good amount of time... the stang will throw one huge hiccup and I will have no throttle! i can floor it and just nothing! so i turn the car off while cruising still and restart it and im good to go... until it happens again!

i think i have narrowed down the bucking down to two possibilities! I had a local shop do some diagnostics on it and they said that they cannot say it is the fuel pump for sure, but the frequency is not consistently at what it is suppose to be! so...either the fuel pump is kicking off or i need to get a custom tune because my computer is now wack from the "chip" that i wasted my $$$ on! either way i look at it i am gonna have to spend about $00-450 for either or! what do you guys/gals think!? Thanks for your help in advance!

Since the pugs are new, and your bucking happens at continuous and I'm guessing lower RPM, I might lean towards a bad COP. Either way, I would pull off that so called "performance chip" and throw it as far away as possible.

sounds like the fuil pump could be a problem if it is it will get worse. thats exactly what mine started out like then it would cut out to the point it wouldnt work at all if i applied any pedal. finaly got the guy to take it for a spin with the laptop hooked up and what do you know the fuil preasurer was dropping to 4lbs.
i would also get rid of that "chip".

probably a coincidence, those things are useless and dangerous,i've heard of engines blowing up from those resistors, but the "chip" is probably not the problem. I'm guessing COP or fuel problems.

When I first bought my Stang I did the same thing. Bought one of those resistor things. Cost me $45. I learned real quickly soon after not to waste my money on that stuff. Really didn't harm me in any way but defiantly didn't help 45 bucks worth. The "chip" won't hurt the computer. All it does is fool the computer into thinking at a different value.

Now to your "hiccup". Have you done ANY other work to it in the time you started having issues?

thanks a ton!! I was kinda hoping someone would tell me to go get a dyno tune rather than a fuel pump so i could do what i always have been wanting to do!! guess im gonna have to get a new pump! i took the "chip" out of the MAF as soon as problems starting to pop up! i had a new COP but returned it since it was like $53.00 and the missing went bye-bye after the plugs got changed out!

although, after the plugs got changed, it was running a little rough and still missed every once in a great while. i ran something called "+104" which is an octane booster thru my fuel system hoping to bring my fuel back up to speed (stored my baby since november and never put StaBil in it since i started it once every 2 weeks)! after 2 bottles of that, the car ran perfect! but then after a couple fill ups it started doing what has been going on recently! soo, no work has been done at all!
