So noobie...what rear brakes do I have?

I bought my car a year ago, and have been researching and learning all things Fox for the past year.

I had originally thought that my car has the early Lincoln Mark VII rear in it, but it has the quad shock mounts on the 8.8, so now I'm not so sure. The brake pads are very large, and the rotors are at least 11", and are vented. I'm currently running a 275/40/17 American Racing Wheel that's 17x9 with 24ET. I know that the Mark VII rear can be wider if not addressed with different axles.

I'm installing 1994 SN94 spindles and Cobra calipers/rotors on the front. I have the Cobra Brake Booster, and will decide on a master cylinder soon (prob 1" bore) and a proportioning valve.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like my cobra rear brakes.measure the rear rotors,if 11.625" then they are. the calipers are the same for sn95 and cobra 38 mm.I can't tell or see the bracket that holds the calipers on,maybe some more pics would help.

They definitely aren't Cobra brakes. The caliper bracket is totally different, and the rotors are shaped different. It's definitely the same caliper the Cobras and GTs used though, so the Cobra master cylinder/booster combo should work out right. See if you can pull a part number off that rotor and cross reference it. It looks like something that might come on Lincoln VII if I had to guess.

You've got sn95 axles and GT brakes. The calipers are the same for a cobra, but the bracket that bolts on the rear axle is different for cobra brakes. The rotors are different as well on a cobra. To get the fox width and tuck your wheels into the wheel well, go to northracecars.com and get their bracket for either the gt or cobra brakes. Then you will need a set of fox length 5 lug axles from moser or summit. That will move your wheels in .75" on each side, 1.5" overall.

Appreciate the insite. I'm gonna pull off one side and look for some part numbers. I want to replace a lot of the rusty bits, and give the calipers some love.

Those are NOT SN95 brakes. Nothing on that setup is compatible with SN95 GT or Cobra brakes

That particular caliper was used on two Ford 8.8 rear brake setups. Its a 45mm unit. It was used on the 87/88 Turbocoupe/93 Cobra setup with 4-lug, and on the 91-92 Mark 7 (and Saleen and 93 Cobra R) with a 5-lug setup.

I'm assuming this is a 5-lug setup? If so, that should be a 10.5" vented rotor, and a 91-92 Mark 7 rear brake setup. You can see the unique caliper mounting flange to the axle.

The 91-92 Mark 7 rear setup is pretty uncommon and not widely known like the 84-90 Mark 7 rear setup (SVO rear brakes)
