Now some peeps might say that that's an old school way of thinking and that 347's are different these days, but the physics of it make sense. Because the side walls of the block experience less load, the block will last longer.
This is why a lot of N/A guys on the stock block build 347s, but when you factor in a power adder and are getting towards the danger zone of 450-500 rwhp, the 331 helps to prolong your block.
