Yes I realise that you're probably talking street tires (which I suppose these are technically) but just had to do it. They are 28X11.5 Quick Time Pro's on 15X10 wheels with 6.5" backspace by the way.

those are straight bolt on, no clearancing at all either by cutting or pounding and they don't rub anywhere.
The width isn't really the issue (these are ~10" accross the tread) it's the height and the bulge that makes it tight. In a 26" tire a 12" tread shouldn't be too hard, especially with a larger wheel on a street type tire.
