I was changing out my vacuum hoses and the plastic tip broke off. Napa wants $45 for a new one, I can't find any to purchase online. What exactly does this part do and how necessary is it. Anyone know where I can get a used/cheaper part?
just to clarify since it seems to have 10 different names, its the valve that is between the charcoal canister and the upper intake manifold.
That is the canister purge solenoid. I tried to get a used one but it was hosed also. It purges gas fumes from the canister after starting your vehicle...it is good for the environment for it to work. You can plug the hose and leave it connected to the pcm (won't throw a code), then get a new one when you can afford it. BTW, everyone including FORD had the wrong PN for it, the right one for my 90 is E6ZZ-9C915-A the box also had CX-1158 on it.
YMMV, Don
