I have had them in the past with a healthy cam and it shook the ****nit out of the car. They will shake every bolt loose in time. My vote is for the polys BUT I have never driven or ridden in a car that uses them. Definitely tighten the frame up if you plan to go that route

Yeah, that's what I was told too. I'm going to get solid mounts in time, I love the shake. It shakes alot with poly mounts, I would love to see solid mounts, would be like a Harley with 4 wheels!

I see what you're saying -- and I don't necessarily agree about the chassis flexing to the point you make it sound like it does, but I do see what you're saying.

I agree that the weak point would have the most stress on it -- though not sure if it would be the bellhousing -- it seems like there would be plenty of other 'weaker' points to break or twist.

As for leaving one mount 'stress free' -- how about where the x-member mounts to the chassis? I have poly mounts there, so it's not a solid connection. What do you think about that? That's ultimately the place where the stress from the tranny mount would go anyway...

I see what your saying about the stress factor, but I haven't heard of trannies and all breaking due to hard mounts. I was told solid mounts would break the the K-member, .

Hmmm... that's wierd?
I don't remember seeing any rubber mounts on my x member when I had the tranny out... I'll have to crawl under tonight and freshen my memory...
So, ya... you're right...

They're pressed into the ends of the crossmember where it meets the body, they're round - sort of tubular with a tube in the middle. I've always put poly ones there, definitely tightens things up. Worth looking into -- ones I've taken out are shot, and I rarely see anyone mention replacing them. Very inexpensive too.

You don't need anything special to change them, but they can be a pain to get in and out -- like any bushings I suppose.
