What are the pro's and con's of each? Which would be better for a street car with a 393 stroker? My goal is 450 - 500 streetable horsepower at the wheels using Canfield 192cc/58cc cylinder heads and a Vic Jr. intake manifold. The car has 3.50 rear gears with a TKO600 tranny. I need good vacuum for the four wheel Baer disc brakes and the engine needs to be reliable even though it is a weekend cruiser. Thanks.

yah i wouln't go with solid lifters. The only real advantage to them is the added oil pressure to the top end and the ability to run higher rpm's. Since you are not going to be racing this engine all the time no real need for them. I do know a few guys with ford big blocks running solid lifters on the street. Only pain with them is the adjusting the valve train. but once you get good at that i guess there not to much of a pain.

solid roller is going to be harder on the valvtrain.....but on a plus side you do not have to rely on hydraulic pressure to keep the lifter from collapsing
