welp, i'll start off with the car

88Gt, pullies, bbk shortys, catted h pipe, flowmasters, king cobra clutch, mgw shifter, 3.73 gears

my best with that stuff was a 8.70 in the 1/8th (et streets)

more recently, explorer intake installed, along with full length sfc's and lca's

went to the track hoping for a 8.6

no dice granted i know weather plays a factor, it has been humid, but i thought my 60' would drop a little....

best 60' was a 1.80 on bone stock suspension (swaybar removed)

yesterday i converted the car to mass air, runs a lot better btw

but basically i'm looking for some advice on what to do now... i'd like to see 8.5's with a 80mph trap, 1.7 something 60'

what do i need to change? i dont think my drivings that bad, but i'm just wondering why i havent improved, shifting around 5300 on the stock tach, launching around 4k on et street radials, thanks guys - sean

4.10's will get you the numbers you want....if you do mostly 1/8th mile and not worried about mpg....go w/ 4.30's...

you can always tame down the rearend w/ 28" tires when you needed to.

or spray it....ez and cheap and fast 100 shot dry

friend has 4.10's in his lx, he has to shift to 4th before the finish line, i cross in 3rd bout 5500 or so well it is my daily driver, i'm 18 dont make much money, so gas is kind of a concern... if i can i want to keep it all motor, i was actually in the hunt for 12's on stock motor, but i decided a explorer intake/gt40p build will be fine

Your only getting 1.8's on ET Streets? I would get some UCA's and LCA's on the back. Hows the traction-loc these days? Are you getting one wheel peel or even a bias towards one wheel, this can make a big difference. You can make 8.5 or lower, a 1.6 60ft would get you there easily.

et street radials....

they're only 235's.... so not the widest, track lock was just rebuilt, its fine, i actually cut the 1.80 on the worn out track lock, thats how i know it can go lower, but it seems like the car bogs a little, i leave the line about 4k, feathering, but i still get a slight bog, lca's are aftermarket, ucas are stock

Try shifting around 5500rpm. If that don't work, try a 70mm throttle body.

5$ says a 70mm tb gains you nothing, many tests have shown this to gain virtually nothing if your motor is under 340HP, i say start making it lighter! i was able to take nearly 250lbs off my car and keep it totally comfortable and streetable, my car is a 1989 GT with 5 speed and weighs almost 3200lbs but thats with me in it, 3/4 tank of gas and my stereo with subwoofers and amps, on lower gas level and take my subs out i bet my gt is barely 3100lbs, didn't cost me a cent. do a search you will see many threads on this!

well so far

no fog lights/bracket, no backseats, no dogbone, no sway bar, it is my daily driver, and the occasional lady graces the passenger seat, so i'd like to keep it decent, i plan on getting some lighter seats next, i weigh 190 so not sure how much the car weighs, no a/c also, it has pretty much all the rest of the options

If you've got the Explorer tb then it's fine. Maybe some 1.6 roller rockers, or E-cam, or GT40 heads, ported stockers, AFRs, etc. This is if you're looking for more power.

If you want to try suspension pieces, then look at some MM drag springs, or some lakewood shocks and struts.

It's 58mm then. I'd get a 70mm.
