HiTech says you should be safe as long as you don't go over 6,400rpm. My tuner set my car to shift at 6,100rpm. I have the rev limiter set to the stock 6,250rpm.

That's on their cams only, though. Or a cam with a similar profile.

Just to prevent any confusion.

Plus you need to factor in the mileage of your engine, and realize that valve springs won't stay in perfect form as the miles amount. It's a good idea to change them if you have somewhat higher miles on your car, regardless of what cams you are installing. I would say the exception being a very small cam that doesn't require revving over 6k.

The heads have a little over 60k miles on them. I dont want to change the valve springs while the heads on the motor. I am hoping to get new heads around next summer just want cams before i do heads. Anyone run Patriot heads before, any problems with them?

I have thought about doing cams and long tubes and my car has 63k...very interested in following this thread.

From what I have heard Patriot doesnt make the best heads...this is coming from two guys I know personally, one guy owns his own shop and is running a 500RWHP 2002 GT, the other guy is an engineer and is running a 700hp Twin Turbo 96 GT...They have both tried all kinds of combinations, and the idea of putting Patriot heads on my car got a good laugh from both of them. When it comes to heads I will probably go TrickFlow, unless Edelbrock makes something competitve.

I know that Patriot had a bad run of valve guides but they replaced them with new ones. Im curious on why your buddies laughed though? I would like to buy Trickflows but price, $2000 for heads compared to $1200? Everyone has their opinions on things. Alot of people swear by slp loudmouths. I personally hated mine and threw them away.

I see your point. I hate flowmasters...but lots of people love them...I am a MagnaFlow kind of guy.

They both said they had a bad experience with the head warping for no reason.
