i got some interesting news on my car today. started off by me taking my set of edelbrock heads in for cleaning.
on top of my two head gasket blowouts, cracked block, and wrench in oil pan. my rocker bolts stripped in two spots and i had to spend 7 hours drilling them out. so they needed cleaning from the shavings.
when they started to clean them, the edelbrock bushings were all found broken. the flat washer part was seperating from the circular part. i called edelbrock and they said this has never been heard of, and want them sent in for research
there is $40 more dollars for new bushings.
then i went to start taking the internals out of my 306 to have the block checked to notify that it was for sure cracked. once i got down there to loosen some bolts, i saw some more problems. the CRANK is cracked in 3 places. all the way through about an inch long. so far 3 of 5 pistons have had shattered rings. they were broken in anywhere from 3 to four places. so not only did i get screwed by this guy for a cracked block, i dont even know that the internals (pistons/rods now) are worth a **** to sell.
last news is edelbrock recommended different head gaskets then the standard felpro's i have, so theres another 60 bucks in gaskets.
sorry had to vent. doesnt feel like my car is ever going to run again. already spent 1400 on the initial shortblock, then the head gasket money, now a little over 4000 on my new stuff. then come to find out i cant even deduct selling the internals off the total
3 months down and counting...
anyone heard of a crank cracking, block cracking and piston rings shattering in 150 miles under normal conditions?
