I am planning on installing a trans cooler on my '95 GT AODE vert.
For those of you who have done this, did you bypass the factory cooler in the radiator? Or did you hook it up inline with the stock cooler?
Also, did you just cut the stock hard metal lines and slip the rubber hoses that go to the aftermarket cooler over the cut ends and then use s/s hose clamps to keep them on?
Did you put the cooler on the front side of the radiator and use the plastic holddowns to keep it in place?
Sorry for all the questions, I just want to get it right the first time.
Thanks.

I just disconnected the upper hardlines of the radiator and used the adapters supplied by the B&M kit - no cutting involved. I mounted it in front of the radiator, but used some brackets so that it was not connected to it. Sorry no pics, but it is a really easy job.

Don’t bypass the factory cooler in the radiator, that’s just wasting cooling capacity that you already have.

Come out of the factory cooler, then into your add-on cooler, then back to the tranny. Make sure you go into your new add-on cooler last. That way you get the most cooling possible.

I bypassed the stock cooler. Well I installed the summit radiator, which doesnt have any tranny cooling lines, so I didnt have choice. But its still the same thing.

With B&M 24k cooler, I didnt have any problems with cooling. I could tell since I have access to a laser temperature gun, so I could see how hot the trans pan, and case was.

With a good cooler i wouldnt worry about the stock one. Its real easy to install, the kits come with everything you need.

The stock heat exchanger (I wouldnt call it a cooler) is to regulate temps, not provide the coolest fluid possible.

I might keep the stock heat exchanger in-series with the plumbing (doing it like MLC outlines) to help with winter driving. Then again, 94GTNJ (we assume the NJ part denotes NJ?) said he had no issues running just a stand-alone cooler.

A stacked plate cooler is self regulating, so that helps as well. Good luck.
