So, I have been working on my car for about 2-3 hours every night trying to get it back to a fraction of what it was before I sold it.

It seems to me that every time I try to fix something, I break something else! It is driving me nuts!

I have replaced the head unit that I had put in with a newer one that was in my Escort. I blew the fuse in the Escort!

I have replaced the rear speakers because the old ones were broken.

I installed them correctly by removing the back deck cover and installing the speakers from above, rather than going up from below. When I did this I cracked the passenger side edge of the particle board. I also broke off one of the tabs that retains the pad that is right above the seat.

I tried to even out the door so it doesn't catch and bind when opening and closing. I made it worse and then after an hour I finally made it "ok". It doesn't bind but the alignment isn't perfect.

I took out the seat last night because it wasn't moving very well. I broke one of the bolts while trying to get it out. And I found out that the seat is in very bad shape and will eventually need to be replaced. What a mess!

Now I need to figure out how to get the rest of that bolt out. I coated it with PB Blaster overnight and will have to try some big vice grips first. If that doesn't work I will need to drill into the bolt and use an EZ Out or whatever it is called.

I stopped at the seat last night and didn't fix the condensation in the headlight because I didn't want to break anything else. I need to get my "touch" back for working on this thing.

I was just needing to get that off my chest and maybe receive some words of comfort and motivation..if anyone has any. (Good news is though that we found a buyer for my Escort. $300 less than what I wanted, but it will be gone.)

Everyone has days like that, don't worry about it man. Just walk away and do something else until you cool down, then come back to it with a fresh start.

I would slow down and just work on one issue at a time until 100% fixed.
Do the headlight first then move to something more difficult. If your
headlight needs to be sealed around the edge I highly suggest using
Fiberglass resin instead of silicone. Apply with a toothpick. The resin
sinks into the crack instead of just covering the outter surface and its
almost unnoticable. As for the condensation take a coathanger with a
balled up rag on the end, remove the lamp, stick it in there to dry the
inside, then again with some glass cleaner.

I believe that the 99 Cobra seats were the same as the 99+ GT seats.

Yea those could be cobra seats, there wasn't anything special about them in 1999.

Agreed with the guy above who said one thing at a time. I usually find that any job I tackle on the car results in some kind of snag and some times it's better to just walk away for a little while and come back to it. Good luck man!

I got two front Mach 1 seats for $400 with MUCH more support. I'd save the money, unless your happy with the poor bolsters.

When I replaced mine, my bolt broke as well, one on the pass side. Its a very large bolt, and was crazy time consuming to drill out. You will need alot of patience for that one. Air drill and some *good* drill bits would be usefull.

I am not too concerned with the smaller bolsters. I don't plan on doing a lot of driving that would require them.

The seats are enticing at that price because parts like this don't show up too frequently here locally. The bolsters on the current driver's side seat are shot, and they are really uncomfortable and the seat itself is cracked and needs to be replaced soon anyway.

I will go look at them and see if the side bolster on the driver's side is still in good shape.

Will having the cloth seats in back still look funny? He has an 03 back seat but for 350...I am not that interested.

The 99+ seats sit a little higher then the 94-98 seats do. Just FYI.
$300 is average for good condition seats. Sometimes I see them as low as $200

And dont feel bad about stuff breaking while fixing. I just was outside replacing my power seat switch pannel and noticed my drivers window stopped working.

I agree that maybe she is mad at me. I decided to just put a manual track in for now (well, my wife did). That way it gets fixed cheap and when we can really afford it we can get some real seats in there.

I ordered a part from Dallas Mustang for the ac line and they sent the wrong one. Doh!
