I did my 3G upgrade last weekend, And after driving the car all week I feel as if the car runs alot better now. Did anyone notice the same thing or is it just me haha
I remember feeling the difference as well when I did my 3G upgrade a few years ago.The whole car is run by electrical power,and the 3G supplies it,making everything run more efficient using the power it needs.Nothing is starving for leftover juice.
Now that I think back, I remember my car running smoother also... all of the electrical components are getting the power that they should. With the extra juice adding some 4ga grounds on the engine is a good idea too.
Yep, that 3G definitely made it clear where all my shorts were! After I fixed all the blown circuits she ran like a BEAST! Glad I made that install. Not to mention it's a more efficient and better running design alltogether
The secondary power ground is between the back of the
intake manifold and the driver's side firewall. It is often missing or
loose. It supplies ground for the alternator, A/C compressor
clutch and other electrical accessories such as the gauges.
Any car that has a 3G or high output current alternator needs
a 4 gauge ground wire running from the block to the chassis
ground where the battery pigtail ground connects.
The 3G has a 130 amp capacity, so you wire the power side
with 4 gauge wire. It stands to reason that the ground side
handles just a much current, so it needs to be 4 gauge too.
The picture shows the common ground point for the battery & extra 3G
alternator ground wire as described above in paragraph 2. A screwdriver
points to the bolt that is the common ground point.
The battery common ground is a 10 gauge pigtail with the computer ground
attached to it.
