When I start my car when its cold it usually idles on 1k rpms on the clock and doesnt move at all, but after about 2 minutes it drops and for the most part it idles good. Just sometimes the idle flucuates alot and sometimes it will even stall. Now the car has stalled like that even before i did the cobra intake swap, but when i put the intake manifold on it seems to be worse now. I checked ALL vacume lines and everything i could, i just cant figure out what this could be. Help?

any codes? the cold start up enrichment time and rpm sound about right (atleast on a fox it would be).

if it persists and you think it is sensor related, check the ECT and ACT sensors (basically your choke). if one or both is out of calibration, it wont necessarily toss a code, but will read incorrectly for a given situation.

good luck.

I had the exact same problem..i cleaned the my Throttle Position Sensor with Carb Cleaner...replaced my ECT cause its cheap and it was throwing a code anyways...and also replaced my O2's..which are expensive but fixed the problem and mine idles perfect.

I had similar problems when I did that upgrade. It was one of the first upgrades I made. True if your oxygen sensors are bad nothing is going to work right. I replaced mine and it didn't help. The car ran fine until I came to a stop, then I got irregular idle and the car would shut off. I made adjustments to the idle and it helped but the problem never went away. It turned out to be the cars computer. It doesn't adapt to changes from the stock set up very well. The minute you start modding the air and fuel in these cars the computer clowns.

I ended up doing an A9L conversion, and I've never had the problem sense. In fact its probalbly one of the best mods I've done. The car picked up horsepower and idles perfect.

Could a 75mm MAF screw up an idle if the throttle body is stock? I have replaced the tps, iac, MAF (75mm), and the coolant sensor trying to fix the idle issues with my 89 5.0. Any help would be greatly appreciated?

No it should be fine. I had this same problem and my maf connector was loose. Check both ends of the cable though. The one that is right under the cai might be falling out.

Well i was checking around my car and i found a large hose that connects to the lower manifold in the back wasnt even pluged in, but i still continue to have idle issues

I took all IAC off and the TPS and the EGR and claned them all out, and after that it seemed to idle alright, but the car still shuts off every once and awhile

I unplugged the TPS and the car still idled fine, then i pluged it back in and the car shut off, and i unplugged the IAC and the car shut off right away, so i know those are working... so idk what else it could be, this just started the other day, and i ran codes and it says everything is alright

Idk what to do

This might be worth a try. Unplug the neg battery terminal and let the car sit about 15 min. Reconnect it and drive it for about 10 minutes. This will reset the computer, its a good idea to do this if you are changing anything air fuel related.

I'm having similar problems after my intake install. My idle would start at 1000RPM and slowly drop to about 450 RPM. I managed to adjust the IAC and now when I start it up it idles at 1000RPM but only drops to 650RPM. The car also seems a little weak under 1500RPM, but I'm not sure if that isn't a normal thing.
