That's an extremely rare, early style Cowl Induction! Possibly a Shelby Prototype? Similar to the style Shaker that was used on later model Pontiac Transam's, with the exception that Ford used the Hood as the shaker lid, to save on manufacturing costs's......

He's right--it led to the creation of those little dash fans that plug into your lighter. Any forced air is good air, right?

it is mine theory zat za motor vehicle has aparantly passed through za vorm hole
completly breaking down its molecular sztructure,re intagrating on za other side
aparantly zere vas a solar flair at za very zame instant it vas reintagrated causing a szlite mutation thus explaining the reverse air induction zystem

It was a late friday evening at the Shelby plant and the guy was in a hurry to get off work and go Drink some Beer. Or maybe he had a liquid lunch that day, a few 12 oz burritos, then back to finish his shift?

Believe it or not, the scoop will actually work better installed THAT way than turned around...

I may be wrong (most likely) but I think that's an entire 'glass hood. See how the center droops a bit compared to what originals look like? Most cheaper aftermarket (lots of expensive, too!) hoods do that. To me, that's even weirder, because that would mean the builder bought a 'glass Shelby hood, chopped out the scoop and turned it around on purpose!
