So I finally bit the bullet and went for a slight minitub. I cut up the front of the rear wheelwell on my 66 coupe and was able to move the front in about 1.5".

Next went on some nitto 275 drag radials on bullit rims. They might work, but prolly need some fender rolling. This is with stock springs and 2" drop blocks to simulate under a bump. It is still 2" off the bumpstops however. How does clearnace look?

The inside looks ok, but the outer lips will definetly have to be rolled. I am considering the wheelhouse mod as well. I have trouble getting my 225's to go without rubbing.

i think if i got a 5" bs is would have tucked better.with all the air out of the rear,it would barely rub, but had the same clearance asyours......although i didnt cut the inner wheel house

I am putting on M/T Drag Radials 275/50 15 (just for to and from the track). Right now I am planning on getting a 15x8 wheel with 4.75" BS, do you think I would be better off going with 5.00" BS?

I cant see how you got that 275 to fit without doing this mod. I had to easily take an inch out for them to fit

it depends how big your hammer is.If i have a choice of rubbing, i would choose the inside for less cutting rather then the lip.

Most of the rubbing will come from the front inside corner of the wheel well.I "massaged" mine with a BFH just enough to stop rubbing in hard turns.I didnt see a need to cut, but maybe with a 5" BS, you might have to.It will also depend on how low the rear is.

that must have been a lot of hammering

and btw I did check the clearance with the interior panel on a coupe and it fits! you can have your cake AND eat it too

Mustangs are so different between cars with tolerances it is not even funny. I fit a 275 40 17 perfectly on the passenger side and it doesn't even have a chance of fitting on the driver side. So it is easy to see why it works from some and not others.

I'm with you... they are all different. My passenger side wheelhouse is bigger than my drivers, opposite of yours.

I know in the drag radials the Nitto is def. the smallest of the 275/40 variety all the other makes seem to run real big

wow i dont remember writing that but anyway on topic. . .

I decided I'm going to do the 245 nitto DR on the street, which will tuck VERY nicely. than maybe once some street miles occur without issue, I'll swap on the buddy's 275 DR and see what happens. the 275s look like they will work, but i'm worried about the aticulation of the axle causing rubbing/scrapes. also, nitto wants that 275 on a 9.5 inch rim, which means the center will have accelerated wear

your gonna be dissapointed with the 245, i had 245's.......not DR's, but they were worthless behind my 289 i had.my 275's havent worn anymore on a 8" wheel then usual.
