well, it's partially my fault but whatever. I've got a few 4bolt clevelands that I've been saving since I was in high school. I had one that I tore down to find pitting in the cylinder wall of a few cylinders but it wasnt bad and could be bored out. well I set that on the side for a while and accidently forgot about it. bad thing is, I tore it down in my dad's paintbooth. but he never used it. fastforward to 5 years ago. he lets a friend use the booth and the friend just moves everything outside into the dirt, so I get pissed but have nowhere else to put the torn down engine so I just put all the parts on a pallet and cover it with plastic and then a random engine hood and forget about it again but I did make sure to tell dad about it.

fastforward to a month ago. Dad lets my mom completely redo the backside of their house including a brand new two room kitchen (wall knocked down), etc, etc. It goes over budget so dad crushed about 200 cars to pay for stuff and eats all that money up so he has a friend come over and get rid of a bunch of scrap metal, etc.

fastforward to yesterday. I go visit them to take a look at the work that's been done since the electrician bolted on them and I get tapped to finish the wiring, etc.
anyway, while there, I look out the new back windows and see into the backyard and notice the old pile of 9" rears gone. I ask mom if dad moved them and she said no, he sold them for scrap along with a bunch of other stuff in that area to finish paying for the brickwork and appliances. I had a cold shudder as that's right where my 4bolt stuff was. I ran back there and sure enough, the block and both the closed chamber heads were gone and the tarp had been removed. The crank at this point was worthless as was pretty much everything else back there.

Luckily the 4bolt main caps were still there so I gathered them up and brought them to my house. I also gathered up my other 4 4bolt engines and put them in a trailer along with a 2bolt engine that I'll put the 4bolt caps on but man, that irritates me. dad even knew that stuff was there but forgot to tell the guy and he had no clue, just knew everything over there was recyclable according to dad.

sigh.

wow that sucks. I guess next time you'll have to keep a close eye on the rest of the parts. I hate storing stuff at other people's homes. So I know just how you are feeling. Good luck on the rest of the stuff.

Where (not knowing you) did your dad get 200 cars to crush for spare money? Your loss sucks though!

he knows lots of people with towing yards and buys all their older (sat at the yard for a long time) cars and when he gets up to around 200 or so and the price of steel gets high enough, he crushes.

he just crushed early this time to go ahead and redo their kitchen.
