Anyone here have a source for the Saleen/Alcon brakes. Also, is there a special procedure for compressing the brake caliper cylinder when replacing the pads? Thanks

Scott,
Dan, aka Footnfan had a set of Alcons for sale off of a 98 S351 a month back. He checks his pm's. He is "our people". He is the one who just bought those three magnesiums off ebay last week.
Call Joe at Chicane. He has a proceedure for compressing the pistons. Also, he has a replacement 13" rotor. It is not grooved though.

ahh i see, so alcon is made by baer correct? and the new kits are brembo? id be happy finding either...i need new brakes.
The brembo kit on the 99-up s281 cars is supposed to be the same one offered in the FRPP catalog. The S351 cars came with Alcons. Baer offers the kit, but not with saleen logo on it.

i found someone selling the saleen brakes off a 2000 or 01 model year. says the caliper is made by apracing...any ideas?
Not sure on them. Marcus or Robert might know. I do know that those calipers did make it onto a few Saleens with the brake upgrade.

APRacing makes some nice stuff, but Alcon is far superior. Both are based out of the UK.
If you want a product used on a Saleen then go Alcon or Brembo.
Don't mess around with that AP stuff or you will ultimately run into what us guys with Alcons run into. Having to source replacement parts that wont bust the bank.
If you want a brake upgrade for your Saleen, the cheapest, and authentic way to go is buy the Brembo front set up Casey at Haney will get you for hundreds less than anyone else. Lat I thought you could get home for under 1 large, save for stainless lines. That's a bargain.

ok, thanks for the tip marcus..im guessing it would be hard to source parts meaning replacement rotors/pads are different than the brembos and it would be hard finding replacements?
btw, right off their site:

Unfortunately my collection has thinned out this year! Replacing parts with cars though! I am trying to ad an 03 S281-SC to my collection for a daily driver.
