spark plug and ignition help!!

I can't comment with any personal experience when it comes to MSD coil packs w/ wires or the screamin demon coil packs and wires as I've never used them. I haven't heard anything negative about either one if that helps. Might want to do a search and see what some of the other guys with 96-98 GT's are using.

I can comment on the plugs though. Motorcraft, NGK, and Autolite are some well-known brands that many guys like to use in these 4.6ltr Mustangs. I use Motorcraft plugs with no problems and my brother is running a set of Autolite's with no problems either. I recommend going with a set of copper spark plugs if what you have in mind is performance. Platinum is good for mileage, but not so great for performance. You can go the iridium route, which is good for both performance and mileage, however, they are very expensive. Which ever you get, gap them at .054 for the best n/a performance. You might want to also run a step or two colder than stock. I'm running the Motorcraft AWSFA-12C's, which are two steps colder than stock with no problems.

Colder plugs are best for a force induction setup, as the term "colder" means less resistant to electrical charge and thus, better ignition for boosted conditions. However, it works fine in n/a vehicles as well. You run a colder plug for better spark, despite whether you have forced induction or not.

colder plugs have different thermal characteristics, not electrical, the colder plug keeps the tip from getting as hot to prevent knock, too cold and it will foul sooner as the tip isn't getting hot enough to burn off deposits.

Well, I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing this out for me. Also, I found this link on NGK's site, which gives great explanation as to how spark plugs work. It confirms what you have just stipulated.

I have the msd coil packs with there 8.5 mm wires with auto lite plugs. I love the setup looks cool at least. I have not yet gapped the plugs 5 thousand over like msd said I could, but I am gona try it to see if it makes a differance. I would go with msd its good stuff! I have had no problems with mine.

i have the performance distributor setup(screamon deamon etc) and i like it...company claims 8hp or so but i didn't dyno to see....it looks sweet under the hood with the colored sleeves on the wires and billit aluminum wire routers....i am also running denso iridium plugs, but they are not cheap. and would not be needed on a NA car. I got them cheap so i ordered them?
