Spark Plug Wires and Testing

I have some spark plug wires on my car, I didn't purchase them so I don't know who makes them. All I can find on the wires is "8.6mm Premium Silicone Magnetic Suppression" They are grey with and orange end that goes to the spark plug. I have search the web with the limted info I have and found nothing about them. Does anybody know how I find out what the resistance should be for these specific wires????

i would just ohm them out and see if it is within specs. (though some wires have a bit more resistance than others, you can get an idea).

Look for 2000 ohms per foot of lenght. Less than that is OK too :nice:
A lot more (3500 ohms per foot or more) is not good. :(
 
Joe, i cant remember what you once posted (and cant find it) - are one flavor of wires a lot more resistance-laden than others (FRPP wires come to mind perhaps)? it seemed like you posted they ohm out a lot higher - sound familiar?
 
The problem is I am not sure who manufactures the plug wires. They have an orange boot that connects to the spark plug and a grey wire with "8.6mm Premium Silicone Magnetic Supression" written on them. Anybody know who the manufacture could be? Is the 2000 ohms per ft sort of an average to gauge by. I think one wire (1.5 ft long) I tested read at about 25 Kohms. So I guess that one is good.

2000 ohms per foot is what comes to mind. A 3 foot long wire would be about 6000 ohms, that may be where the confusion is coming from. Some of the wires are spiral wound metal conductor (Taylor and maybe Accel?) and will ohm out a lot lower.

unless i misread what JR wrote, that wire would be bad. you want less than 2K ohms/foot. that wire has 16.5K ohms/foot. did you mean 2.5K ohms?
