Spark plugs, projected vs non-projected

both will fit. the thread lengths are different. Get the BR6EF and it will have the shorter threads. The TR6 will still work ,although I don't know if it is a resistor plug, the BR6ef is.FYI, Br7 is 2 steps colder.

B= 14mm thread
R= Resistor
6= heat range
E= 19mm Thread reach
F= taper seat/ no gasket

I found a TR6 here, it has the long threads. do you have a picture? I am interested to find out more. Does the BR6EF have the groove?

hmmmmmm...

so the plugs both recommended to me by modular power house are resistor types and so are the ones in the car (bpr6efs)..... but they are a projected tip... not what MPH recommend ??

ok, now just 2 questions remain..

why would you use a projected tip plug (is it in higher compression engines it keeps the plug out of the way of the piston[clutching at straws here])???

why would you choose a resistor type plug over a non-resistor type...

anyone got any pearls of wisdow to share...

neither plug will make contact with the piston in any way unless you have serious problems. Resistor plugs reduce noise back to the computer and electrical system. Example would be without a resistor plug, turn on the radio and a buzz in the speakers that would go up and down with the revs of ther engine. There is more to it but not important.
I still haven't found out what projected or non-projected plugs are. What did MPH recommend?
What exactly did MPH recommend?

well, mph recommended a tr6 plug..

this (going from ngk's de-coder) is a tapered seat, resistor, 6 (one step colder)

so thats what i guess i'll order.. (on summits site though, it says these tr6s are rojected tips)

I guess i'll try the tune first with the plugs i have in there at the moment though (bpr6efs) as the credentials are the same as the tr6..

thanks for all the help guys...

When you get the plugs will you list the thread depth? I wonder if that has changed, I have a set that was purchased a couple of years ago.
Long threads, short threads, they both bottom out at the same point and do not go farther into the head. remember to use anti sieze on the threads.
