When I bought my car it had bosch platinmum 4 prong spark plugs, i read our cars dont really like platinum, What kinda effect would having them do on my car? Would switching to some normal autolites benifit me any?

These plugs are new looking and in good condition

If you dont have issues, dont sweat it. With the fox guys, they often notice a lower idle and a higher RPM cut-out (around 4K RPM). But many folks do run plats and notice no issues. I would not buy them to install but if in there and doing well, leave 'em be IMHO.

Good luck.

I've had the bosch +4s in my car for 2 years and had no problems at all with them. Putting in some the accell header plugs soon. The only time you really shouldn't use platinums is if you're running NOS. But like they say....if it ain't broke....don't fix it......and if you're a 5.0 owner, keep modding the SOB

Even if there is some type of benifit of running those plugs its not worth the extra money over autolights or Motorcraft plugs since 94-95 cars run just fine on those and they are cheap.

Autolite 24's here.. I've tried NGK and bosch plats. didn't notice a difference in anything.. I think the autolites are the best so far.

A buddy had some botched plat. plugs and we went to the track. His truck ran .5-.7 slower than his prev. track times with the same 60ft. He put the old plugs back in and ran .4-.5 faster with the crappy old plugs, I cannot remember the exact amount of time lost or picked back up but do remember it was over .5 slower and thought it was even slower than that and he was slower than his avg. with the older plugs but still quite abit better than the brand new botched plat. plugs.

I'm not doubting you, but was the effect due to the "platinum" itself, or were the "botched" plugs in the wrong heat range for what he had done to the truck?

They were the exact same heat range (factory range), gapped the exact same as the req. gap for the auto, and just plain sucked.

For the money and perf. just get some copper core plugs either autolite or NGK The one thing I dont like about NGK is there sometimes hard to get 2ranges colder and if you do they are gen. in the irrid. type plug and those are not cheap.

well see everyone is saying if it aint broke dont fix it, and its not broke really, but see if i will get a few extra hp by going back to autolites i think i probably should?
but if im not going to gain any performance then im not gonna waste time

Guys, platinum is very hard and does not conduct nearly as well as annealed copper (autolite 25's, etc). This is simply a fact and Blk, I dont doubt your story. Plats are (IMHO) great for cars which are not performance oriented or that have inaccessible plugs. Otherwise, it is like trying to autocross on cheap hard tires (which last forever) rather than some supple tires which dont last as long. (the one thing with copper is that it suffers more gap erosion than plats, since it is softer and runs hotter).

Good luck.

sage2k, the autolite are like a buck fifty each. Get them and decide for yourself. I know I used platinum once and when I did another tune up, I used autolite and I noticed a difference.
