Speaker problems

Hey everyone. I have a 94 Cobra with the mach 460 system in it and I'm having some problems. Every now and again I hear a pop and the subwoofers all cut off. I have to turn my stereo off and back on again, sometimes several times, to get them to come back on. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Any ideas about what could be causing it?

On a related note, I also pick up a ton of static from my alternator when listening to radio stations. It's really evident when trying to listen to satellite radio through the FM transmitter. I've installed a noise eliminator, which helped some, but I'm still having troubles. Is the only other way to fix it to buy a new alternator? Or will that even work?

for the subs going out, i have no idea.the static in the radio it might be a bad plug wire,i had same problem but cleared up alot with new wires.
